Virginia Employment Commission Information
--The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) office in Buena Vista is officially closed on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.
In order to continue some service to area residents, Mike Webb of the Rockbridge Area Partnership, Tim Reamer from the Buena Vista Economic Development Coordinator and Donna Countryman from Career Cafe have been working with the Virginia Employment Commission and workforce service providers to ensure that job seekers would have employment services available locally through the newly established Rockbridge Joblink Network. The Joblink Network was formed to bring job seekers resources as close to those who need them as possible. With the closest Workforce Center now 42 miles away, the Joblink Network offers job seekers in Bath & Rockbridge Counties a variety of limited employment services at mini-joblink centers where they can look for jobs, assisted by trained volunteers who connect them with the workforce system via computer or direct referrals. Each Joblink Center offers a different level of service. Please contact your local Joblink Center for more information about the services offered at that location.
